I Have a Confession to Make! 🤫✨
Growing up, I dealt with IBS for as long as I can remember. Like anyone else walking this path, I constantly sought medical advice looking for a real resolution. But over time, I discovered another powerful piece of the puzzle: exploring food options that actively heal and benefit my gut health. And honestly, thank goodness for AI nowadays! It has been an absolute game-changer in helping me research and explore these incredible, gut-friendly options.
As an Asian American, my diet is deeply influenced by my heritage. For instance, I have a massive love for kimchi—but I had never actually made it myself from scratch! However, life as a military diplomat changes things. Many of the countries I PCS to don’t have these ready-made products sitting on grocery store shelves. If I want it, I have to make it! 👩🍳✈️
My culinary world expanded even more during my recent trip to Japan, where I truly discovered natto and amazake.
Man, let me tell you—natto took me a few tries to get right, but I have it down now! It’s definitely an acquired taste, and you have to have a real love for it. But amazake? I think this one might actually be my absolute favorite over natto! It's naturally sweet, incredibly soothing, and a fantastic option for kids to check out too—especially if they are lactose intolerant like me! 🥛🌾
Through this journey, I’ve found three powerhouse fermented products that have genuinely turned things around for my IBS issues: kimchi, natto, and amazake!
I am so thrilled to share that over the coming weeks, I’ll be dropping the exact DIY recipes that have worked wonders for me. You won't want to miss these, so please stay tuned! 🎉👇
